Excellence Assessment

Leading For Excellence © An Integrated Management Model
Our Experience Has Shown...
- Organizations usually do not have a systematic assessment process that allows them to plot their progress from one year to the next.
- Planning is done at the corporate level and rarely involves or reaches the staff. There is limited use of planning tools that can shape thinking and promote innovative ideas.
- Leaders have too many goals and objectives that are not clearly linked to the organizationís vision.
- Metrics either do not exist or are too many in number, or are not considered useful.
- Process improvement is popular, yet process maps that diagram daily work are not found.
- Quality is frequently viewed as a separate activity from everyday management!

Where Are You Now?
We have found that to make Integrated Business Planning effective there must be a comprehensive data base upon which to focus planning.
An organizational excellence assessment that is based on an integrated management model and established criterion can provide this solid base.
Our Leading For Excellence © model provides such a baseline measure in six organizational domains.
Leading For Excellence© An Integrated Model
Our Leading For Excellence © model shows how each of the dimensions of any organization must interconnect to produce the organizationís desired results.
The model examines seven facets that are present in any organization. They are: Customers and Internal Partners; Planning; Leadership; People Development; Data and Info; Process Management; and, Results.
Conducting an assessment based on a model such as ours, will provide a clear picture of how the organization works. It is an excellent baseline for analysis and improvement. It can also be repeated every two years to measure the organization's progress.
The Excellence Assessment Process
The assessment takes place on-site. The consultant conducts a series of one-on-one interviews, focus groups and a review of key organizational documents Eg: strategic plan, survey data, quality program etc. For a 1000 employee organization the assessment usually takes five days.
The consultant compiles findings into a report format that lists strengths, areas for improvement and if requested, recommendations to consider.
The report is presented to the Executive either in person or via teleconference.
The assessment findings play a critical role in the next phase: Integrated Business Planning. It provides the data via which relevant breakthrough planning can take place.
